Misc. religious news clippings regarding homosexual activism: 2004 — 2009

NOTE: This loose compilation is NOT meant to convey bigotry or any hatred toward persons, rather it is offered in response to the duplicity of certain activists who deceptively and hypocritically portray themselves as near-universal victims of widespread oppressive hatred, while denying the hatred and intolerance which is increasingly manifested toward those who conscientiously oppose homosexuality, or even fail to sufficiently support it, and who may compassionately seek to redeem them from it.

Homosexual Activists Sue Catholic Cardinal in Spain over Sermon

In his sermon the Cardinal explained that to provide the benefits of marriage to "all types of unions, including those by nature unable to have children, will result in the systematic destruction of the social security system." He said social security is best served by "the fecund love of the Christian family." The homosexual activist group president claimed the Cardinal's remarks constitute "slander and an incitement to discrimination" on the basis of sexual orientation. Spain is in the midst of a low birth rate crisis with one of the lowest birth rates in the world at 1.2 children per woman.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN--Homosexual activists associated with the so-called Rainbow Sash group demonstrated during a Pentecost Mass at St. Paul's Cathedral on June 4, 2006. After being denied Communion, they consumed fragments of a host distributed by a man not wearing a sash, who had received one. Chaos broke out, with ushers threatening to call police. The Mass continued, however, and the incident ended peacefully.

The incident mirrored one that occurred at the same church last year, when the situation degenerated into something of a free-for-all, with sash wearers ..

Canadian Pastor Fined; Christians Banned from Voicing Biblical Opposition

From WorldNetDaily:

A Canadian tribunal ordered a Christian pastor to renounce his faith and never again express moral opposition to homosexuality, according to a new report.

In a decision dated May 30 in the penalty phase of the quasi-judicial proceedings run by the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal, evangelical pastor Stephen Boisson was banned from expressing his biblical perspective of homosexuality and ordered to pay $5,000 for "damages for pain and suffering" as well as apologize to the activist who complained of being hurt...

"In this case there is no specific individual who can be compensated as there is no direct victim who has come forward," [lawyer Lori G. Andreachuk] wrote.

However, that did not stop her from ordering the payment anyway.

And as for the future, she wrote:

"Mr. Boissoin and The Concerned Christian Coalition Inc. shall cease publishing in newspapers, by e-mail, on the radio, in public speeches, or on the Internet, in future, disparaging remarks about gays and homosexuals. Further, they shall not and are prohibited from making disparaging remarks in the future about … Lund or … Lund's witnesses relating to their involvement in this complaint. Further, all disparaging remarks versus homosexuals are directed to be removed from current Web sites and publications of Mr. Boissoin and The Concerned Christian Coalition Inc..." http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=66704

Swedish Pastor Acquitted of Hate Speech Charges

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051129/ap_on_re_eu/sweden_pastor_gays_4

"A Pentecostal pastor who denounced homosexuality as a "cancerous tumor" in a sermon said Tuesday he would stop preaching against gays after Sweden's highest court acquitted him of hate speech. ...

"This is great for freedom of religion and speech," Green, 64, told The Associated Press by telephone from his home on the island of Oland, off Sweden's southeastern coast. "It feels great that we get to keep that."

Even so, Green said he would not deliver any more sermons about homosexuals. "I don't need to," he said. "I have said so clearly where I stand on the issue...I wished for (attention), but I didn't think it would reach all of Sweden, and even outside the country," Green said. "It feels good to have been able to be such an influence."- Mattias Karen, Associated Press writer, Nov. 29 2005

Brazilian Youth Conference Promotes "Diversity"

From LifeSite:

Brazil's first national "Youth Conference", held in the capital city of Brasilia in late April, concluded with a declaration in favour of the legalization of abortion and the creation of an educational system free of “homophobia”.

Participants were also given government materials that defended homosexuality... "to be homosexual (gay or lesbian), bisexual, transvestite or transsexual isn't an illness, isn't illegal, isn't wrong, and isn't an option. It's an orientation like heterosexuality, that is to say, another way of living and expressing one's love."

University of Toledo Disciplines Administrator for Being Critical of Homosexuality

From CNA:

An administrator at the University of Toledo has been placed on paid administrative leave after writing a column in a local paper that argued against including homosexuals as “civil rights victims” and characterized homosexuality as a lifestyle choice.

Crystal Dixon, associate vice president of human resources at the state-run University of Toledo, wrote a column for the Toledo Free Press in response to an April 4 column by the paper’s Editor-in-Chief Michael S. Miller. Miller argued that Ohio is behind in “gay rights” and also criticized the University of Toledo’s lack of health care benefits for some domestic partnerships.

Dixon, who did not identify herself as a university administrator, argued in an April 18 column that those “choosing the homosexual lifestyle” should not be considered “civil rights victims.” She said that while she cannot change her identity as a black woman, “thousands of homosexuals make a life decision to leave the gay lifestyle.” Dixon referenced prominent individuals who had renounced their behavior, sometimes because of “a realization that their choice of same-sex practices wreaked havoc in their psychological and physical lives.”

Demonstrators Harass Christian Youth in Germany

A traditional Christian youth festival in Germany faced unprecedented disruptions by leftists who hacked the gathering's website, interrupted speeches and threw beer bottles at visitors, organizers said on Tuesday.

Christival, a periodical gathering of Protestant Christian youth in Germany founded in 1976, was meant to be a chance for likeminded young people to meet up and celebrate their faith.

But thousands of attendees at this year’s festival in the northern city of Bremen found themselves under siege by leftist extremists determined to protest what they saw as Christian intolerance to homosexuality and abortion.

“There have never been disruptions of this kind in the entire history of the event,” Christival spokesman Steve Volke told The Local on Tuesday. “They tried to storm the festival area. They threw beer bottles at participants. The whole five days of the festival there was always something happening.”

...“The mood was stirred up beforehand that it was a festival against homosexuality and abortion,” said Volke. “But it was two seminars out of 230 – and complete nonsense to call it a fundamentalist Christian youth gathering.”

Australian Churches Rights in Question

From the Sydney Star Observer:

Christian organisations in all states and territories may have lost the right to discriminate against gay people despite religious exemptions in anti-discrimination laws, legal experts claimed this week following a landmark ruling against the Uniting Church’s Wesley Mission.

Homosexuality as an intolerable sin was not a doctrine of Christianity, the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal ruled last month, because there were many dissenting views on the subject among Christian groups generally, and specifically within the Uniting Church. http://www.ssonet.com.au/display.asp?ArticleID=8250

Family groups decry same-sex ruling 'Arrogant' Nebraska judge strikes down marriage amendment Posted: May 14, 2005 1:00 am Eastern

A Kamloops (British Columbia) City Council member will pay a hefty fine and also apologize for comments he made about homosexuality at a public meeting last summer. Those comments by the local politician led to a complaint being lodged with Canada’s Human Rights Commission and could have proceeded to a tribunal.

LifeSite News reports that John DeCicco, who is Catholic, made the remarks at a Kamloops City Council meeting in June of last year and repeated them to the media afterward, saying that homosexual acts were "not normal and not natural." A homosexual activist couple filed the human rights complaint against him in August.

DeCicco has now decided to accept a $1,000 fine and make a statement of apology in order to avoid a Human Rights Tribunal hearing. However, the Catholic city official says his opinion has not changed. http://exodus.blogs.com/liveoutloud/2007/02/canadian_offici.html

'Little Black Book' teaches kids 'gay' sex

The booklet, entitled "The Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century," contains what the activist group Article 8 Alliance calls "deadly misinformation on health." Included in the booklet are graphic descriptions of homosexual conduct, ...

Also included is a list of homosexual bars and clubs in the Boston area "for the discerning queerboy." The Article 8 Alliance points out the students attending the event were of middle-school and high-school age. As WorldNetDaily also reported, a Massachusetts father who recently protested a pro-homosexual book his 6-year-old son had been given in school spent a night in jail after being arrested by police – an incident the activist group mentions as further evidence of a pro-"gay" attitude by officials.

Dissenting Connecticut Clergy Contend for ECUSA's Reform. Washington Metro board director fired for public statement on homosexuality.

Washington Metro board director and practicing Catholic Robert J. Smith appeared on a local cable show as the Republican pointman to discuss gay marriage. Smith commented that as a Roman Catholic he believed homosexual behavior to be "deviant" in comparison to heterosexual behavior.

"As an openly gay elected official," Graham demanded Smith's resignation from the transit authority board. Smith refused, explaining that his remarks had nothing to do with his job and were made in public outside of his job. He also reiterated his support for Metro's non-discrimination policy and his respect for differing views on homosexuality. Nonetheless, Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich Jr. bowed to Graham and fired Smith because the governor wants "inclusiveness" and "tolerance."

In the past, Graham has made intolerant and non-inclusive comments about ex-gays and Catholics, yet unlike Smith, Graham still has his job. For example, in 2003, when he was a chair of the Metro Board, Graham remarked that he found PFOX's subway advertisements urging tolerance for ex-gays to be "offensive" and "deplorable."

In addition to his anti-ex-gay comments, Jim Graham has also made anti-Catholic remarks in his official role as a D.C. councilmember. In 2000, when the D.C. City Council rejected a "conscience clause" to exempt Catholic organizations from being forced to purchase health insurance employee plans that covered artificial birth control, Graham lashed out at the Pope and the Washington Archdiocese for practicing the Catholic religion. http://pfox.org/HETEROSEXUALS_VICTIMIZED_BY_HOMOSEXUALS.html

PROP. 8 SUPPORTER VIOLENTLY ATTACKED FOR DISTRIBUTING LAWN SIGNS

October 13, 2008 Contact: Chip White/Sonja Eddings Brown, 916-215-4392

MODESTO-October 13—In a violent display of intolerance, an opponent of Proposition 8 attacked and seriously injured a man who was volunteering on Sunday for the initiative to define marriage as between and a man and a woman.

Prop. 8 supporter, Jose Nunez, 37, was brutally assaulted while waiting to distribute yard signs to other supporters of the initiative after church services at the St. Stanislaus Parish in Modesto.

The assailant grabbed about 75 signs and yelled at Nunez accusingly, “What do you have against gays!” Although Nunez replied that he had nothing against gays, he was attacked anyway. The assailant punched Nunez in the left eye and ran off with the signs.

Nunez, his eye dripping with blood, walked into a building on church grounds where a fellow parishoner called 911. Police and paramedics responded to the scene.

Nunez, who suffered a bloody eye, serious wounds to his face, and a scratch to his knee, was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where he received 16 stitches under his eye.

Nunez, a native of Mexico, became an American citizen two months ago and plans to vote for the first time in November. http://www.protectmarriage.com/article/prop-8-supporter-violently-attacked-for-distributing-lawn-signs

NEA Demands 'Acceptance,' Not 'Tolerance'

From Renew America:

"That NEA advocates for the inclusion of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender issues in the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education teacher education program review process."

That was recommended at the NEA meeting in Orlando. That means that the NEA "recommends that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues be required content for teacher credentialing," according to AFA Action Alert.

... In addition, the NEA took out the term "tolerance" regarding homosexuality and supplied "acceptance and respect" concerning such alliances. "The author of New Business Item 52 used this rationale: 'We should teach acceptance and respect, not tolerance, of those who are different from us wherever appropriate.'" http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/swank/080130

Boy Scouts to be Evicted -- Unless they Renounce Policy on Homosexuality

From LifeSite:

The Philadelphia council of the Boy Scouts of America will lose the lease on its historic premises for its refusal to bow to pressure from the homosexual lobby to accept homosexual members and leaders. The city has told the Scouts they will be evicted if they cannot come up with US $200,000 a year "market value" rent for the land on which their building sits. Until now, the Scouts had paid a nominal $1 per year lease fee although the youth organisation had originally owned the premises in 1929.

The famous Beaux Arts style building was built and paid for by the Scouts, and turned over to the city with the understanding that the Scouts would be allowed to remain in it rent-free "in perpetuity."

City solicitor Romulo L. Diaz Jr. gave Philadelphia's "Cradle of Liberty Council" of the Scouts until Monday this week to renounce their policy. http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/dec/07121107.html

California Senate Passes Homosexual Curriculum Bill

By a vote of 23-13, the California Senate has approved SB 777, a bill that will require schools to portray homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles in a positive light to students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Randy Thomasson, the president of the Campaign for Children and Families, was quoted as saying that parents "are angry at Democrats for passing this school sexual indoctrination bill and frustrated that Republicans did little to fight it."

The bill forces the California education code to redefine terms like "sex" and "gender," and forbids any sense of bias against alternative lifestyles in curriculum or school activities. Conservative groups are hoping Governor Schwarzeneggar will veto SB 777 as he did a similar bill last year.

The Los Angeles Unified School District has already implemented SB 777's policies, according to the Christian Post. Allegedly, boys in the district who identify as females are allowed to enter the girls' locker room and rest rooms. http://exodus.blogs.com/liveoutloud/2007/05/california_sena.html
Gay Advocates Claim the Right to Indoctrinate Children

From WorldNet Daily:

A collection of 'gay' organizations has filed a friend-of-the-court brief in a Massachusetts lawsuit, claiming they have every right to teach their doctrine to grade-school students.

Parental rights, according to the brief filed this week, "have never meant that a parent can demand prior notice and the right to opt a child out of mere exposure to ideas in the public schools that a parent disapproves of."

That includes, according to the brief, religious or any other ideas.

The new brief was filed in a Massachusetts District Court lawsuit by Lexington parent David Parker, whose civil rights case is pending, by the Human Rights Campaign, the ACLU, Massachusetts Teachers Association, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders and others. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52311

Ky. students can't skip anti-gay harassment training http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=16508" Students have no religious or free-speech right to opt-out of school training aimed at stopping anti-gay harassment in Boyd County schools, a federal judge has ruled.U.S. District Judge David Bunning said "there is simply no basis for an opt-out" because the training does not endorse any viewpoint or require students to disavow their religious beliefs. Three students had skipped the mandatory sessions at Boyd County schools.Bunning wrote in an opinion issued Feb. 17 that mandatory training "to address the issue of harassment at school, including harassment based upon actual or perceived sexual orientation, is rationally related to a legitimate educational goal, namely to maintain a safe environment."- Associated Press, Feb. 20, 2006

Homosexuals Seek to Shut Down Canadian Pro-Family Websites

"Homosexual activists have denounced three Calgary based websites to the Alberta and Federal Human Rights Commissions, demanding that the sites which post information critical of homosexual behaviour be shut down.

Homosexual activists in Alberta have targeted these websites run by Craig Chandler, a Canadian conservative and talk-radio host. The sites contain postings of letters, calls for action, and archived copies of a radio show called Freedom Radio Network. The radio program hosted by Chandler with co-host Erik Gregson describes itself as “conservative without apology” and “a breath of fresh air in a world inundated by left wing liberal media”.

LifeSiteNews.com spoke with Chandler, who explained that his long and expensive battle with the human rights commissions began over two years ago. At that time the Executive Director of Concerned Christians Canada, Rev. Stephen Boissoin wrote a letter to the editor denouncing the homosexual agenda. Dr. Darren Lund of the University of Calgary then filed a complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission about the letter, which Boissoin and Chandler have been forced to fight to the tune of close to $100,000, with no end to the case in sight.

Not only was Boissoin brought before the Commission, but Lund and other homosexual activists attempted to have three affiliated websites, all of which are following and publicizing the case, shut down. The three websites are concernedchristians.ca, freetospeak.ca, and freedomradionetwork.ca. The Alberta Human Rights Commission, however, dismissed the complaint, says Chandler, allowing the sites to continue running. The homosexual activists, however, not lightly to be brushed aside, then filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission."

When Tolerance means Intolerance

"Daniel Burke is the owner of a minor league baseball team – the Portland, Maine, Sea Dogs...He thought it might be a nice touch to commission some public artwork to rest outside Hadlock Field where the Sea Dogs play and offer it to the city for free...he commissioned Rhoda Sherbell, a Long Island, N.Y., artist to create bronze statues of an American family – mom, dad and two kids – headed off to watch a game together...Portland's Public Art Committee had other ideas. The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) has sent a letter to North Carolina school officials, demanding they stop offering "The New Gay Teenager," a seminar presented to elite high school scholars last summer at the North Carolina Governor's School facility in Winston-Salem, known as Governor's School West or GSW. Prescription for Tolerance: Is Moral Judgment a Mental Disorder?

"It was bound to happen. In the span of a single generation, we have seen the practice of sodomy evolve from a bizarre sexual behavior to a normative alternative lifestyle; from illegality to a constitutional right; from the closet to the boardroom; from tolerance to promotion; and lastly, from the bathhouse to the marriage altar. The next step, which is already in process, is reminiscent of a Soviet-style "reeducation" program.

According to a December 10, 2005, Washington Post article, "Psychiatry Ponders Whether Extreme Bias Can Be an Illness," it seems there is a serious move afoot to formally designate those who are repulsed by homosexual practice as suffering from a pathological neurosis--"homophobia." In other words, a person who views the legitimization of homosexuality as sinful, immoral, or destructive to society may have a mental disorder!"- Allan Dobras, Orthodoxy today.orghttp://www.orthodoxytoday.org/articles6/DobrasTolerance.php

Ex-Gay Organization’s Billboards Defaced in St. Louis

Ministry Plans to Take Part in Conference Despite Vandalism & Protests

One of four billboard signs sponsored by an international network of former homosexuals was recently defaced in St. Louis. The ad, located at I-44 at Kingshighway, is part of a larger billboard campaign featuring pictures of former homosexuals with the words “I Questioned Homosexuality. Change is Possible. Discover How.” Exodus International sponsored the ads in anticipation of Focus on the Family’s Love Won Out conference — a public seminar about homosexuality to be held at the First Evangelical Free Church on February 25.

"Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and a top government leader have told a group of bishops that their request that Catholic institutions be exempt from placing foster children with same-sex parents will be denied.

While delivering the sentence, the judge branded John A. 'Pagan morality' on way to becoming law

A legislative plan to "eliminate attitudes" opposing homosexuality is moving forward in Oregon, even though opponents claim it threatens churches and establishes pagan morality as a benchmark for their operations.

Senate Bill 2, already endorsed by the state Senate and favored by Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a Democrat, now heads to the floor of the state House following a 5-1 committee endorsement.

It is expected to be voted on within the next week.

President Bush's nominee for surgeon general has drawn wide criticism for a past paper he wrote that critics say purported to make the argument that homosexuality is unnatural and unhealthy.

Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr. had presented "The Pathophysiology of Male Homosexuality" in January 1991 to a United Methodist Church's committee to study homosexuality. OCEAN GROVE, N.J. (BP)--Those who believe "gay marriage" would have no impact on religious freedoms may want to take a look at New Jersey, where the state is investigating a United Methodist retreat center -- similar to those of LifeWay -- that prohibited a lesbian couple from using one of its facilities for a civil union ceremony.

The question is whether the nonprofit Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association -- an ocean-front retreat-type ministry owned and operated by members of the United Methodist Church -- violated the state's anti-discrimination law. Once rebuffed, the two women, Harriet Bernstein and Luisa Paster, filed a complaint with the state's civil rights office. ...

Mathew Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel, a religious liberty legal organization, told BP. "Whenever you have same-sex marriage or same-sex civil unions, you end up having a clash between the same-sex agenda and freedom of religion. The two are not compatible, because the same-sex agenda seeks to force by law acceptance of its view, and that will inevitably collide with Christian values....

"There is no question that if same-sex marriage becomes legal, that churches eventually will have their tax-exempt status threatened -- no question whatsoever," Staver wrote. "If churches today discriminate against race, they would not be able to have tax-exempt status today. If churches discriminate on the basis of same-sex marriage -- if it became legal -- then same-sex marriage becomes the equivalent of race, and churches would not be able to have tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage."

Governor Deval Patrick mocks Bible.

Patrick, the state's first black governor, said "In five years now, the sky has not fallen, the earth has not opened to swallow us all up..." referring Massachusetts, in 2003, becoming the first state to rule gay couples had a right to marry. http://eeyoresnews.blogspot.com/2008_08_03_archive.html

After Massachusetts legalized "gay marriage," National Public Radio interviewed a lesbian teacher in Brookline who teaches eighth-grade sex-ed and tells the students not only about heterosexual but homosexual sex. She teaches them that lesbians can have intercourse with sex toys. "If somebody wants to challenge me, I say, 'Give me a break. It's legal now,'" she told NPR.

In California, the state high court ruled last year that fertility doctors must provide services to homosexual couples, even if the doctors have religious and moral objections. The case arose when a lesbian couple sought treatment at a fertility where two Christian doctors worked. The doctors referred the couple to another clinic that would provide the services, but the couple nevertheless sued.

'Mom' and 'Dad' banished by California, Schwarzenegger signs law banning anything perceived as negative to 'gays'

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

"We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger has delivered young children into the hands of those who will introduce them to alternative sexual lifestyles," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, which ...

Study: Evangelicals Lesser Known than Homosexuals

The latest research by Phoenix-based Ellison Research found that only 24 percent of all Americans who say they are not evangelical know an evangelical person very well and 40 percent have never known any evangelicals at all, even casually. Meanwhile, 53 percent say they know a homosexual person very well and 20 percent know such a person casually.

Australian Christians sued by homosexuals

Homosexuals in Australia are using a Christian camp's refusal to host a pro-homosexual group as a test case to attempt to overturn legal exemptions that exist for religious groups in the Equal Opportunity Act. The Act, similar to other Western "anti-discrimination" measures, exists to "eliminate sexual and racial harassment in the workplace, educational institutions and accommodation."

Owners of the Christian Phillip Island Adventure Resort located in Victoria, Australia, are facing legal action for their decision to deny use of their facilities to the homosexual youth group, Way Out. ...

Church Seen as Main Obstacle Hindering Wholesale Acceptance of Homosexual Agenda

"All churches who condemn us will be closed." That was what Michael Swift, a "gay revolutionary," declared in a February 1987 issue of the Gay Community News.

"Michael Swift" was a pseudonym, and the first line of the now-infamous homosexual rant -- which was even reprinted in the Congressional Record -- claimed that the entire piece was a "cruel fantasy" that explained "how the oppressed desperately dream of being the oppressor."

The "dream" was filled with a nightmare scenario that seemed like something out of a fascist coup d'etat: "All laws banning homosexual activity will be revoked .... [W]e shall make films about the love between heroic men .... The family unit -- spawning ground of lies, betrayals, mediocrity, hypocrisy and violence -- will be abolished .... All churches who condemn us will be closed."-Ed Vitagliano, Agape Press, Feb. 21, 2006

Man sues Bible publisher for discrimination

Bradley Fowler says the biggest misconception about his lawsuit against the world's largest Bible publisher is that he has a problem with the Word of God.

In the suit, Fowler, who is gay, claims he began experiencing mental anguish and medical problems in 2007 when he came across several Zondervan-published Bibles that used the term "homosexual" in certain Scriptures, particularly 1 Corinthians 6:9.

"When I realized what they had done, I was so furious that I couldn't sleep for at least two days," he said, noting he feels the term was added to push an agenda. "This is a sacred book and the Scriptures say that no one is to add or take away (from the Word)." ...

Northern Ireland's first lady accused of hate crime

Iris Robinson, considered Northern Ireland's first lady as the wife of First Minister Peter Robinson, has been accused of "hate crimes" and is facing both a police investigation and the possibility of a civil complaint, according to reports.

She condemned the violence, then described homosexuality as "disgusting, nauseous, shamefully wicked and vile," and said, "It's an abomination." ...

B.C. Teacher Chris Kempling May Lose Teaching License for Defending Christian Beliefs Cited for "unbecoming" conduct for simply being candidate for Christian federal political party, amongst other charges

In 2003 the soft-spoken educator was cited by the College of Teachers for professional misconduct, after he wrote in to a local newspaper outlining Christian teachings on homosexuality. After a hearing on the matter, Kempling was found guilty of the charges, and his teaching license was suspended for a month.

Kempling appealed that decision in the Canadian court system, all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. In the process he spent "well over" a hundred-thousand dollars in legal fees, he says. In the end, the Supreme Court denied his appeal.

And now Kempling has discovered that he is facing yet another citation from the College; and this time around, says Kempling, it is possible that he could lose his teaching license altogether.

A Church of England priest has been ordered to remove comments about gay people from his blog, remarks described by his diocese as "highly offensive"

The Rev Peter Mullen, who ministers in the City of London, said he had gay friends and the words were "satirical". He suggested in his internet blog that homosexuals should have their backsides tattooed with the slogan: "Sodomy can seriously damage your health". The gay rights group Outrage described the comments as "Neanderthal".

Mr Mullen said: "I certainly have nothing against homosexuals. Many of my dear friends have been and are of that persuasion. What I have got against them is the militant preaching of homosexuality."

In the same blog, Mr Mullen called for all gay pride parades, which he branded "obscene", to be outlawed. ...

Newsweek turns Bible on its head

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)--Newsweek magazine, one of the most influential news magazines in America, has decided to come out for "same-sex marriage" in a big way, and to do so by means of a biblical and theological argument. In its latest cover story, "The Religious Case for Gay Marriage," Newsweek religion editor Lisa Miller offers a revisionist argument for the acceptance of "same-sex marriage." It is fair to say that Newsweek has gone for broke on this question.

Miller begins with a lengthy dismissal of the Bible's relevance to the question of marriage in the first place. "Let's try for a minute to take the religious conservatives at their word and define marriage as the Bible does," Miller suggests. If so, she argues that readers will find a confusion of polygamy, strange marital practices and worse. ...

Christian teacher suspended for opposing pro-gay training

A Christian teacher has been suspended from his job after complaining that a staff training session was used to promote homosexuality.

Kwabena Peat, 54, is a history teacher and head of year at Park View Academy in north London. He walked out of a compulsory training session along with a number of other Christian staff after the invited speaker questioned why heterosexuality was considered normal.

Peat wrote to the three organisers of the session, complaining about Sander’s “aggressive” presentation and also mentioned the Bible and its warning that homosexuals faced the wrath of God.

Other staff later complained to the principal of the school, saying they felt “harassed and intimidated” by Peat’s letter. Following an investigation, Peat was suspended on paid leave. ...

Institute Secures Victory for Religious Employee Fired by AT&T for Refusing to Sign Certificate of Understanding About Homosexuality

Buonanno, a “Quota Specialist” with AT&T Broadband, started working for AT&T in January 1999. In January 2001, AT&T published a new employee handbook. All employees were required to sign a written acknowledgment that they had received it, as well as a “Certificate of Understanding.” The Certificate contained a statement that the employee signing it “agreed with and accepted” all of the terms and provisions of the 84-page handbook, including its policies and rules. However, upon reviewing the 84-page handbook, Buonanno, a Christian with sincerely-held religious beliefs regarding homosexuality, found several things he could not, in good conscience, agree to. On page 6, under the section titled “Diversity,” the handbook stated: “Each person at AT&T Broadband is charged with the responsibility to fully recognize, respect and value the differences among all of us.” On page 67, the company gave sexual orientation protected status. For Buonanno, to acknowledge that he agrees with a lifestyle which he believes to be sinful would be to compromise his faith and contradict what he considers the Bible’s views on homosexuality to be. Buonanno shared his concerns about the statement with his immediate supervisor and informed him that he had no problem declaring he would not discriminate against or harass people who were different from him, including homosexuals, but he could not sign the statement required by AT&T because it contradicted his sincerely held religious beliefs. On Jan. 31, 2001, Buonanno presented his written statement and the unsigned Certificate to his supervisor, who alerted AT&T’s human resources representative. When Buonanno reported to work the next morning, he was immediately escorted to the human resources representative’s office and informed that AT&T would terminate his employment if he refused to sign the Certificate. When Buonanno explained his proposed accommodation to the human resources representative, she informed him that his continued employment at AT&T was dependent on his signature. Buonanno declined to sign the Certificate and was immediately terminated.

Christian Doctor Loses Position over Gay Adoption View

A Christian doctor in England was removed from an adoption panel because she refused to endorse applications by gay couples. Pediatrician Dr. Sheila Matthews had requested to abstain from voting in cases of same-sex couples, as she has done for the past five years. But the Northhamptonshire County Council said it decided to instead replace her on the panel because her view on gay adoption did not comply with England’s new Equality Law, as reported by U.K.’s the Daily Mail.

The case of the Christian doctor penalized for her views on gay adoption follows reports earlier this year of Catholic adoption agencies in the United Kingdom threatening to shut down if they are forced to work with gay couples due to the Equality Law. The Catholic Church in the U.K. has argued that the rights of homosexuals are given priority over the rights of Christians. http://www.christianpost.com/article/20090721/christian-doctor-loses-position-over-gay-adoption-view/index.html

Shari Rendall, director of legislation and public policy for Concerned Women for America, the nation's largest women's public policy group, said H.R. 2015, the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2007," would be a disaster. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55654

Christian School slammed for 'homosexuality is sinful'

A school in Stockholm with a Christian profile has received a rap on the knuckles from school authorities for teaching children that homosexuality is sinful. The Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket) directed its criticism at the privately run Andreas Gymnasium School following a news item broadcast by SVT during the summer. Having heard the headmaster say that homosexual activity was sinful, the youth wing of RFSL - the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights - reported the school to the education agency. ...

'Gay' plans to target 2-year-olds

Children as young as two years of age are in the bull's-eye of coming changes in California's school curriculum, which "gay rights" advocates now admit will alter the very foundation of information presented to public school classrooms.

A list of school resources, sponsored by a homosexual-advocacy group called Safe Schools Coalition, suggests that for those who are only two years old, there's "Felicia's Favorite Story," which tells how she was "adopted by her two mothers."

The list also promotes a book called "Are You a Girl or a Boy?" by Karleen Jiminez, a resource for children ages 4-8 when advocating homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism and other alternative lifestyle choices.

It's described as "A sweet book about a gender-different kid." ...

New gay hate laws 'threaten free speech'

A coalition of MPs is hoping to halt a gay hate law which will stop Christians pronouncing their beliefs about marriage and family life.

The Tory, Labour and Lib-Dem MPs are demanding an amendment be introduced to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill to make sure religious leaders are not prosecuted for criticising homosexual lifestyles.

The proposed law against incitement to hatred of homosexuals would carry a maximum penalty of seven years in jail - a longer sentence than the five years handed down to a typical rapist.

It is considered so severe that it has drawn criticism from some homosexuals. ...

A bishop has been ordered to undergo equal opportunities training and to pay a gay youth worker nearly £50,000 for refusing him a job because of his sexuality. John Reaney, 42, had his appointment at the diocese of Hereford blocked by the Bishop of Hereford, the Rt Rev Anthony Priddis, despite being told by his interviewers that he was the outstanding candidate for the post. During a two-hour interview with Bishop Priddis, Mr Reaney claimed he asked intrusive questions about his sexuality which had left him feeling embarrassed, upset and "a total waste of space". ...

Counselors ordered to argue for homosexuality

A ruling by the American Counseling Association that members must not help homosexual clients change their sexual orientation is not sitting well with some in the professional organization who are seeking clarification to avoid “future legal actions.” The official policy of the ACA is that counselors asked by clients for help in changing their sexual orientation must offer only "gay affirmative" arguments. If the client persists, counselors must explore the "religious influences that underpin homophobia that may be harming the client." At issue is a ruling from the association concerning clients who seek help in clarifying their sexual orientation as that matching their physical characteristics. ...

UK: New law means anti-gay comments could lead to seven years in jail

Stirring up hatred against homosexuals is to become a serious crime punishable with a seven-year jail sentence under a law announced last night. The legislation - similar to laws already in force outlawing persecution on religious or racial grounds - will make criminals of those who express their views in ways that could lead to the bullying or harassment of gays. The maximum sentence is longer than the average of around five years handed to rapists. The announcement widened the rift between opposing supporters of freedom of speech and gay rights. Christian groups condemned it as "a law to allow Christiansto be locked up for what they believe". ...

Judges: 'Gay' exposure OK for kindergarteners

In a case that could wind up in the U.S. Supreme Court, an appeals panel upheld dismissal of a lawsuit by Massachusetts parents seeking to prevent discussion of homosexual families in their children's elementary school classrooms. The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday agreed with a judge's decision last year that a school can expose children to contrary ideas without violating their parents' rights to exercise religious beliefs. "Public schools," wrote Judge Sandra L. Lynch, "are not obliged to shield individual students from ideas which potentially are religiously offensive, particularly when the school imposes no requirement that the student agree with or affirm those ideas, or even participate in discussions about them." ...

Huckabee takes heat for 'gay' marriage comments

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican Mike Huckabee is taking heat from some members of the gay community over recent comments that appeared to equate gay marriage with bestiality. In an interview with the religious Web site beliefnet.com, Huckabee pushes back on recent critics who have called some of his positions "radical." "I think the radical view is to say that we're going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal," he said in the interview, published on the Web site Wednesday. "Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again." ...

Senate votes to expand federal 'hate crimes'

WASHINGTON- People attacked because of their sexual orientation or gender would receive federal protections under a Senate-approved measure that significantly expands the reach of "hate crimes" law. The Senate bill also would make it easier for federal prosecutors to step in when state or local authorities are unable or unwilling to pursue those acts deemed to be hate crimes.

Senate Democrats insist the hate-crimes amendment (S. 909) they attached to the defense appropriations bill won't criminalize preaching or speaking out against homosexuality. ...
